| 142. Lucius Richard O'Brien (Canadian 1832-1899)
"On The Bostonais", ink and wash on watercolor paper, signed lower left. The River was named after Pierre Bostonais, a blonde Iroquois trapper who was nicknamed Tete Jaune (Yellowhead). In 1820 he guided one of the first Hudson Bay Company parties through the Yellowhead pass. The route was used regularly by the company to reach the interior of British Columbia. Paper apprx 12-3/8" x 4-7/8". verso has pencil writing with title and blue crayon markings. 500/1,000 Sold $603.75 back to catalog |
