219. James Earle Fraser (American, 1876-1953)
"The End of the Trail". Bronze sculpture. Fraser studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and in Paris. He is best known for this depiction of a dejected Native American on his weary horse (the original is in Visalia, Calif.), and his design of the "Indian Head" nickel. This particular statue is lost-wax method recast of the original, the original was manufactured by the Henry Bonnard Bronze Co. Founders in New York. Sculpture measures apprx 35-1/2" H x 8-1/2" W x 33" L. Accompanied by a appraisal and evaluation by Peter Keisogloff; Rare Books, Inc. in Cleveland, Ohio.

221. Unknown Artist (American, circa early 20th Century)
Fabulous Art Deco Heads of Adam and Eve. Copper over plaster rubbed to give a sense of a patina, mounted on round wood bases. Purchased in New York over 30 years ago. They may have been busts made prior to casting in metal, though they stand on their own as finished works. Similar to works by Donald De Lue, Viktor Schreckengost, Edris Eckhardt, or many other sculptors of the time. Male and female pair tilted slightly inward towards each other. Eve wears a flower in her flipped hairstyle, adding a tropical flare, and has pronounced eyelids. Adam has a square chin line. Each measures apprx 13-1/2"H.

227. Female Bust After Constantin Brancusi (1876-1956), American
"Madamoiselle Pogany". Large ceramic bust of one of Constantin Brancusi's most famous sculptures. Modern female head is glazed with polychrome glaze in a terra cotta color. It is said that some of these heads were surreptitiously manufactured in the U.S. in the 1960's. Back reads Austin Inc. Prod and is copyrighted '61. Measures apprx 16-1/2" H.
