"Rabat Rue Sidi Fatah". Pencil and watercolor on wove paper, signed lower right. Dated on verso March 1927 along with title and artist's signature. A very colorful rendition of a street at mid-day with figures with a Mosque in the background. Little information is known about the artist, however he delivers his work with technical accuracy and playful color. Offered in a wonderful Prendergast-style gilt frame and under rolled glass. A forest interior. Watercolor on paper, signed lower right and dated '51, framed with glass, apprx image size 14" x 20-1/2", apprx frame size 22-1/2" x 28-1/2". Verso bears artist's information. Born in Richmond, Virginia in 1904, Archer studied at the Art Student's League in New York City, the Colarossi Academy in Paris and independently with many famous artists of his time. He exhibited at the Corcoran, Virginia Museum of Fine Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the World's Fair and at the National Academy of Design. In addition he exhibited and won numerous awards in museums throughout the United States. He was also a professor at George Washington University.

"Mother" (6/90) and "An Angle was Tired" (8/60). Woodblock prints on laid paper, matted. "Mother" depicts an older woman in profile and "Angle" shows a sleeping figure slumped against the base of a street lamp. Both executed in simple, black lines. Titled, numbered and signed on bottom. Under top mat are hand written notes about the history of the print: both were shown at a 1931 exhibit of the Cleveland Print Marker's Society and "Mother" was additionally shown at a 1932, Int'l exhibition in Los Angeles.
