Monzie, A. De and Yvanhoe Rambosson. Paris: Charles Moreau, Editions D'Art, 1925. Folio, portfolio of cloth-backed, geometric-patterned boards in color. Brightly decorated endpapers in fuchsia, dark green and royal blue repeating flower pattern. Pangon revived Javanese batik dyeing in Paris. Her work combined contemporary with traditional Javanese designs and are illustrated with loose plates of her designs. Eleven plates in color, plates apprx 12-1/4" x 9-3/4".

Illustrated with 9 copper plate engravings including frontispiece, one folding map of North America and a folding plan of Federal City (Washington D.C.). Also includes five folding plates; plates include Portrait of Mico Chlucco, a folding plate of the Mission at Monterey California, a folding plate of two Native Californians, a folding plate of the Virginia Natural Bridge, folding plate of the hills around Monterey California, two folding botanical plates (one of which is a photostat dated circa 1928, laid in) and finally a portrait of Sir Hans Sloane. In original com\ntemporary embossed boards, apprx 5" x 3-1/2".

England, Warrington: printed by W. Eyres, 1774. This is the third edition of Pennant's first volume. Pennant's tour of Scotland preceeded dr. Samuel Johnson's by four years. Contains 388 numbered pages and 21 plates ( 9 fold outs and a fold out map) also 9 extra engraved plates including 3 of Falcons, 1 fish, 1 bird and views. Also contains an engraved frontispiece of "The Admirable Crichton". Faded marbled boards, rebound in comtemporary leather spine with four raised bands and red leather insert with gilt lettering. Apprx 9-1/4" x 7-5/8". Bookplate of "N. Webb, Esq. 24. Portland Place" on front board interior.

Pair of leaves from an illuminated 13th Century Bible. Hand written text is black with hand painted decorative details in red and blue ink. Measures apprx 4" x 6". The best known book of the Middle Ages, the Latin Bible's text has survived almost word for word unchanged since early Christian times. The text of the Old Testament goes back to the Jews in Palestine centuries before Christ, and the text of the New Testament was written and assembled in the course of the First Century A.D. This page is from a Thirteenth-Century Bible, a time in which, among other changes, bibles were now produced not only by monks but by professional scribes and craftsmen who made their living from copying, decorating and selling the books. Nearly all surviving manuscripts of the of the Latin Bible belong this century.
