"Alone at the Beach". Oil on board, signed lower right. Scene depicts a female figure picnicking at the beach under the shade of an umbrella and a slender tree. Painting done with palette knife so some areas are thick and others thin in pigment application. Painting apprx 13"H x 16"W. Overall with frame apprx 22"H x 25"W. Skou was born in Oslo, Norway. Early in the century, he immigrated to the U.S. where he first settled in New York. Later, with his family, he moved to Chicago and then France. During his career as an impressionist painter and illustrator, he belonged to the Boston Arts Club, Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts, Aquarellists of America, American Federation of Arts, National Arts Club and the American Art Association of Paris. 7,000/9,000 Sold $6,900.00 back to catalog |
