Hand-painted porcelain wall plaque by one of the finest KPM artists. Plaque depicts an old German woman wearing a bonnet and fur collar; after a portrait by Balthasar Denner (16851749). Painting is very fine and depiction is executed in near photorealistic details; for example, the wrinkles around the sitters mouth. Signed by Wagner on lower right. Verso has KPM mark with scepter, incised 15 B and has illegible script in graphite. Measures apprx 15-1/2"H x 13-1/4"W. Plaque is set into ornate hand-carved wood, composite and gilt frame. With frame, entire item measures apprx 22-1/2"H x 20-1/2"W.
