| 219. James Earle Fraser (American, 1876-1953)
"The End of the Trail". Bronze sculpture. Fraser studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and in Paris. He is best known for this depiction of a dejected Native American on his weary horse (the original is in Visalia, Calif.), and his design of the "Indian Head" nickel. This particular statue is lost-wax method recast of the original, the original was manufactured by the Henry Bonnard Bronze Co. Founders in New York.
