278. A Monumental Painting of Hannibal Barca ( circa 247-183 BC)

"Hannibal Crossing the Alps", oil on canvas of the famous General of Carthage who crossed the Alps with his elephants to fight the Romans, circa 218 B.C. Signed lower right "G. Patricci" and dated after an original in 1729, this is a 20th Century copy. Apprx 7'1"T x 5'2"W, in a gold frame. Rescued from a demolition of a theatre in Antwerp.
