102. Two works by Francisco Goya y Lucientes (Spanish, 1746-1828)

1)"Los Caprichos: Ni mas ni menos", plate 41. No visible watermark, cream colored wove paper. Impression from before the steel facing of the plate. Apprx 7-7/8" x 5-7/8" plate mark. Overall measures apprx 10-1/2" x 7-1/2". 2))"Los Caprichos: Buen Viage", plate 64. No visible watermark, cream colored wove paper. Impression from before the steel facing of the plate. Apprx 8-51/2" x 5-7/8" plate mark. Overall measures apprx 11-1/4" x 7-1/4". The eighty etchings of "Los Caprichos" were the first collection Goya produced for sale as a single set. In 1803, fearful of the Spanish Inquisition, Goya relinquished the plates to Charles IV, in return for a pension for his son. The plates remain with the Calcografia, issued in the ensuing years by that institution.
