221. Unknown Artist (American, circa early 20th Century)

Fabulous Art Deco Heads of Adam and Eve. Copper over plaster rubbed to give a sense of a patina, mounted on round wood bases. Purchased in New York over 30 years ago. They may have been busts made prior to casting in metal, though they stand on their own as finished works. Similar to works by Donald De Lue, Viktor Schreckengost, Edris Eckhardt, or many other sculptors of the time. Male and female pair tilted slightly inward towards each other. Eve wears a flower in her flipped hairstyle, adding a tropical flare, and has pronounced eyelids. Adam has a square chin line. Each measures apprx 13-1/2"H.
