521. Lot of Five Carved African Masks, circa 20th Century
Lot is comprised of five tribal African masks. Four share similar features with exaggerated lips and either round or elliptical eye holes. Wooden masks are painted black and have holes around edges. Three have fiber decoration knotted and braided to appear as hair or beards. One mask is further accented with five clusters of cowry shells sewn onto fabric. One can observe cut marks, from carving, on interiors. Masks range in size from 9"H x 5-1/4"W to 12"H x 7-1/4"W.
