"Young Augustus Recoiling from the Sever'd Head of Pompey". Ink and wash on laid paper, framed under glass. Image depicts myth of Caesar's Egyptian conquest in 48 BC. Painting is not signed. Paper measures apprx 6"H x 8"W. With dark grey mat and gold painted wooden frame, entire item measures apprx 14-1/4"H x 17-1/2"W. Information on verso claims an English origin while plaque on the front states French School, circa 1795. Provenance: ex-coll Edgar Konsberg from London. 200/300 Sold $172.50 back to catalog |
