Etching, framed under glass. Artist lower right lower right in the plate. Paper measures apprx 6"H x 7"W. With silk mat and gold leaf frame, entire item measures apprx 14-1/2"H x 16-1/2"W. Provenance: From a prominent estate in Cleveland, Ohio. Born in Lyon, Boissieu first studied art in his native city before traveling to Paris where he became close friends with both Joseph Vernet and Greuze. De Boissieu quickly established a strong reputation for both his landscapes and figure studies. He was elected to the Academy of Lyon in 1780. 200/300 back to catalog |
