129. Kangra School, circa late 18th/early 19th Century

"Radha and Krishna Standing". Illuminated manuscript using vegetable dye pigments and gold on paper. Image depicts the immortal love story between Hindu god, Krishna, and his favorite among the 'gopis' (cow-herding maidens). In this oval vingette they stand by a lotus garden and share gifts of flowers. Painted border features flower corners and floral band. Paper measures apprx 8"H x 6"W. Professionally framed with silk mat and thin gold frame, entire item measures apprx 15-1/4"H x 12-1/2"W. Provenance: From a prominent Cleveland, Ohio estate.
