332. Bristol Candle Holders, British, late 19th Century

Pair of matching "fireglow" glass candlesticks. Bristol glass was developed as a "poor man's porcelain" since the smooth, opaque glass could be blown in such a way to resemble fine china. The taupe-colored glass appears reddish brown when held to the light. The pair features a round foot and flared lip. Middle portion decorated with hand painted flowers accented with gilt. Measure apprx 6-1/2"H.
