662. Floyd MacMillan Davis (American, 1896 - 1966)

Young man in suit. Graphite on paper, framed under glass. Skillful sketch of a dapper young city man holding a book and pipe. Davis is best known an illustrator of humble rural people such as for novelists William Faulkner, Sigman Byrd, Glenn Allan, and MacKinlay Kantor and for his later wartime depictions. Signed on lower right. Measures apprx 15-3/4"H x 11-3/4"W. With gold filet and wood frame, entire item measures apprx 17-1/4"H x 13-1/4"W.
