With black frame, entire item measures apprx 17"H x 20-1/2"W. Lot also includes a photo-card, framed, under rolled glass after the image by Alexander Gardner. Image shows a formal seated portrait of Lincoln and his son, Thaddeus, "The last Photograph the President sat for" taken on April 10, 1865. Image measures apprx 8"H x 6-1/4"W. Know Ye, That, reposing special trust and confidence in the integrity, Diligence and Discretion of William J. Wainwright, I have nominated , and by and with the advice and consent of the Senate , do Appoint him Collector of Internal Revenue for the Third Collection District of Pennsylvania and do authorize and empower him to execute and fulfill the duties of that Office, according to law, And to have and to hold the said Office with all the rights and emoluments thereunto legally appertaining unto him, the said Wm. J. Wainwright during the pleasure of the President of the United States for the time being. In testimony where of: I have caused these Letters to be made Patent, and the Seal of the Treasury Department of the united States to be hereunto affixed.
