Oval shape bronze buckle plate with openwork hunt scene depicting a man with a falcon on his arm and raised knife above a beast. Overall patina. Apprx 1-3/4"W x 1-3/8". The Avar culture consisted of Slavic nomads living near the Danube River basin during the ninth century AD. Sister pieces from this collection were donated by the owner to the Antiquities department at Harvard University. 1,200/1,500 Sold $402.50 back to catalog |
