Painting is in the tradition of the old masters with precise handling of details and smoothness of surface. Signed and dated, 1994, on lower left. Measures apprx 11-3/4"H x 13-1/2"W. "Grigoryev, born in Kishinev, Moldova, calls his art "nostalgic realism". He specializes in portraits, still lifes, and nudes painted in a somber palette dominated by charcoal and pewter-toned grays, soft browns and pale flesh tones. His surfaces are enamel smoothe, without the slightest hint of a brush stroke. Grigoryev has had solo exhibitions at galleries in Aachen and Baden-Baden, Germany, and has sold works to public collections in Moldova and Ukraine.
