280. A Set of Georgian III Period Silver Service, Attributed to George Hunter, circa 1763-64
Lot includes nine skewers with meat knives and seven spreaders. Sterling silver handles with fish scale detail, terminating in a shell motif and metal blades. Hallmarks vary; spreaders are fully hallmarked and initialed whereas the larger knife and accompanying skewer are marked "sterling" and "Co.". The makers hallmarked initials, believed to be that of George Hunter, who entered into the books in 1748. Skewers apprx 8-1/4", knives apprx 10-1/4" and spreaders apprx 6-1/2".

281. Sterling Silver Coffee Pot, London, circa 1757
Lovely coffee pot features a leafy organic spout on a bulbous form with a footed base. Flame finial on hinged lid and wood handle. Measures apprx 10"H x 4-1/4"W. Weighs apprx 27.1 Troy oz. Hallmarked near rim include the makers mark (unidentifiable), rampant lion, crowned leopard head and date mark.

282. Pair of Silver Beakers, Russian, 19th Century
Sterling silver cups with gold washed interiors. The larger cup has incised scrolling foliate designs twisted and knotted upon itself. Smaller cup with depiction of birds, fish and curving shell shapes. The undersides are hallmarked and incised with the owners name, Lloyd Osbourne (1868?1947). The large cup measures approx. 3-1/4"H x 2-7/8"H, and small cup measures approx. 3-1/8"H x 2-1/2"W. Osbourne was the stepson of the American author Robert Louis Stevenson. He collaborated with Stevenson on three novels and also wrote books of his own. He was the indirect inspiration for Stevenson's popular adventure novel "Treasure Island". It is believed that Stevenson presented these cups to his stepson as a gift.

Fabulous pair of fierce fighting fowl crafted in silver plate. One rooster rears up while his adversary pecks low. Tail feathers are incised and layered. Cast bodies are weighted and hollow. Marks not found. Measures apprx 9-1/2"H.

285. Sterling Silver Dish with Liner, French, circa 19th Century
Lovely serving accessory features a handled dish with an oval bowl and stepped foot. Dish attaches to a footed tray with a banded rim. Very careful stipple work gives a lightly textured effect to feet and handles. Screws on bottom where pieces are attached. Two hallmarks indicate items maker's (unidentifiable) location as Paris and date as circa 1838. Measures apprx 4-1/2"H x 9"W. Weighs apprx 17.7 Troy oz.

289. Sterling Silver Ashtray by J. Blackgoat, ca. mid 20th Century
Beautiful ashtray created by Navajo artisan. The Blackgoat family from New Mexico has long made intricately stamped pieces of sterling silver jewelry and other small objects. Ashtray assumes a rectangular shape with four curved cigarette rests. Designs are scalloped, radiating out from the center in which rests a short post crowned with a bezel set turquoise. Entire dish sits on a small domed foot. Measures apprx 1-1/4"H x 3-7/8"L x 3-1/8"W. Stamped with makers name on bottom.
