267. Mellon Jar, Chinese, early 19th Century
Large mellon jar, so named for the full, round shape, with lid. Glazed with background turquoise and decorated with designs of swimming orange koi, ducks and water lilies. Finial is elongated. Bottom marked with red artist stamp. Measures apprx 11"H x 7"W.

268. Small Jade Foo Dogs, Chinese, circa 19th Century
Matching statues carved of Jade, with stands. These figures have traditionally stood guard over the entrance to Buddhist temples and tombs; thus discouraging evil spirits and wrong doers from entering, and maintaining peace and tranquility within the sanctuary. The fearsome pair sit with heads tilted inward. One is slightly larger. Jade in a spectrum of colors, with striations ranging from white to forrest green. Each foo dog terminates to a squared form and sit on a base a rectangular wooden stand. Measure, with stands, apprx 9-1/4"H x 3-1/2"L x 4-1/2"W.

269. Jade Censer, Chinese, circa late 19th/early 20th
Tripod footed ceremonial vessel with lid, from carved jade. Elaborate decoration includes a dragon shapes, cloud designs and beast heads dangling carved rings from their mouths. Jade is light mint green tinged with brown. Wooden base carved with a greek key motif. Measures apprx 8"H x 7"W.

271. Country Ming Jar, Chinese, circa 19th Century
Storage jar built from a light red clay. Features a bulbous form with slightly flared rim. Pretty glaze features abstract green spots on a crackle field of light grey with a granular, with flakes like sawdust, clear glaze over top. Narrow band of controlled glaze on foot. No marking on bottom. Measures apprx 7-1/2"H x 6-1/4"W.

"Drooping Cherry Blossoms" and "Plum Tree". Wood block prints on paper, framed under glass. Very pretty and delicate depictions of flowering fruit trees. Artist stamp seen in black on bottom margin. 273. Pair of Carved Bone "Tusks", Chinese, circa 20th Century
Pair of similar curved shapes which feature a central medium relief panel filled with enlightened figures holding cups surrounded by cloud wisps and pine trees. The rest of the sculptures are decorated with lightly incised designs of geometric rondels, flowers, ribbons, flames and clouds and piqued with colored pigments. Each resting on an octagonal base. Measure apprx 29-1/4"H.

274. A Second Pair of Carved Bone "Tusks", Chinese, circa 20th Century
Pair of hollow symmetrical curved shapes. Each features a lower relief battle scene with solider in full motion, encircling the majority of each tush. Details such as some eyes and hair highlighted with black pigment. Tops and bottoms banded with lightly incised decorations, colored with black pigment. Bottoms with two characters. Measure apprx 24"H. Tusks accompanied by four sided bases with three tiles of bone attached to the fronts.

Smiling Buddha carries a Nenju or set of prayer beads in his right hand, and in his left hand a fruit, perhaps as a symbol of longevity; his belly is fat to indicate prosperity.
