| 9. Pair of Beaded Sioux Hide Moccasins, Lakota Tribe, circa 1885
Pair of hide moccasins sinew sewn in typical colors (red, dark blue, yellow, and light blue) with pin-wheel patterns against a white glass seed bead ground. Provenance: belonged to Anna Louise Maus. Moccasins were made by Chief Sitting Bull's wife while he was on the reservation in the Dakota territory circa 1885. They were given to Dr. Maus, an army surgeon, for his daughters, a pair for Anna and a pair for her sister, in exchange for his assistance to the Native Americans.
