| 382. Model of a 17th Century British Ship of the Line
This 20th century model was custom made from the plank on frame technique just as the original ship was constructed. Most likely from Italy. The modeler used original drawings and prints as a source for historical reference. Assembled one plank at a time using select woods such as ebony, rose wood and black wood. It was in the 17th Century that Britain firmly established it's reputation as masters of the sea. Sits on a custom marble base, no maker's marks. Measures apprx 30-1/2"H x 32"L. Comes with custom crate. 500/700 Sold $460.00 back to catalog |
