| 250. Tang Dynasty Standing Burial Figure
Earthen ware figure with pigments. Standing male attendant with clasped hands wears a long formal robe, and upswept hair. Figure features a peaceful round face. Traces in brown and black pigment especially around middle section. Glazing most likely being ancai or 'three-colour' glaze technique. Provenance: Acquired by Mrs. Carol Fisher-Sawyer-Bauman, (an associate of Swiss psychologist Carl G. Jung during WWII) purchased this from a Zurich art dealer who possibly acquired it via the Silk Route trade passage from China. Swiss-German printed newspaper stuffed inside for transport to the U.S. Measures (with out square wooden base) apprx 27-1/2"H. 1,500/2,500 back to catalog |
