1) Captain Edward Jones, circa early 19th Century. Small pen and ink wash study of a exotic local. Scene features a gentleman leaning up against a pile of arranged rocks. From August 1848. Verso bears detailed notes about the location. Measures apprx 5-7/8"H x 8-7/8". Aspire Auctions have been cataloguing the sketched works on paper of Captain Edward Jones over the last year. From his European tour, he has offered us a view of the past by documenting villages, townspeople and landscapes. His detailed accounts of his surroundings and playful use of light and shadow lend something more than any amatuer illustrator could create. 2) Small engraving on paper of a woodland pond.
