481. Cartoons by Sir John Tenniel selected From The Pages of "Punch", Inscribed by Tenniel with original pencil illustration

London: Punch Office, 1901. 177 page with double sided illustrations, book apprx 12" x 9-1/2". Page inscribed in purple ink by Tenniel titled "A Fragment" from Shakespeare. Another page has an article adhered from The Times, June 13th 1901 about the banquet for Tenniel. Included with book is the original pencil illustration for "The Alchemist" from the November 22, 1879 edition of Punch, paper apprx 11" x 7-1/2". Book is 3/4 red leather with red cloth boards, gilt bands. Spine has five raised bands with gilt emblems in compartments and gilt title. Top of paper edge is gilt. Interior marbled boards and paper with adhered bookplate from the library of Charles Edward Baxter.
