Pair of eight pointed "Soleil Yellow" Henriot Quimper plates. Each plate features a quaint central, hand-painted design of a provincial peasant; one of a woman carrying a milk jug on her head, the other of a man in a round hat and orange trousers. The boarders have a scalloped decoration in navy and orange. Bottoms bear company name and decorator number, 101. Each measures apprx 9-1/4"D. Quimper, a tin-glazed earthenware, known in France as faïence, is best known for their hand-painted pieces with scenes depicting life in the Brittany. 100/150 Sold $172.50 back to catalog |
