Depiction of the Angel Michael holding the soul by the hair, lifting it to be placed into the bag of the standing demon, as demon states "It is Our Soul Because He Loves Wealth". Lower portion states, "God Remember Mihial Stoichko". The man's family looks on with anticipation with depiction of house in the background. Wonderful details throughout this painting such as the rendition of the armor and the hair and claws of the demon. Text in Old Slovenian language. Egg tempera and gold leaf on gessoed wood panel. Panel apprx 25" x 19". Housed within a carved wood wall/shelf unit, which may be original, with traces of gold leaf. Overall apprx 34" x 24" x 8-1/2".
