173. Salvador Dali (Spanish, 1904-1989)

"Edward and Swiveller". Serigraph and mixed media, framed under glass. Collage type image from the famous Surrealist features a main depiction of a cyclist harnessed to a flock of four butterflies. A postcard image of a racing man and buggy ("The Celebrated Trotting Team") in the same gestural position lies pasted beneath. The image's composition is skillful through its repeated use of converging lines. Signed in graphite on lower right and numbered 161/250. Paper measures apprx 21"H x 29-1/2"W. With black backing paper, linen mat and gilded wood frame, entire item measures apprx 31-3/4"H x 39-3/4"W.
