229. Hayashi Kodenji, Japanese, Meiji Period

Cloisonne vase with mirror black background with silver rims. Upper section with chidori flying up the tapered neck. The small blue birds are in gold wire and their symbol is associated with long life. The bulbous lower section is decorated with flowers and grasses executed in silver and gold wire. Greek key design around flared foot and rim. Gold wash on interior. Diamond artists mark inlaid in silver wire on bottom. Measures apprx 6-1/4"H x 3"W.
