258. Blue and White Bowl, Chinese, Kang-Hsi Period, circa 1700

Delicate footed bowl features a flared interior rim decoration of blossoming cherry branches with a reclining figure in the centre. Exterior features a landscape populated by courtly women engaging in outdoor activities such as watering plants. Exterior of rim marked with clouds. Bottom has apocryphal mark of the reign of Cheng Hua and remnants of a red export wax seal and a tag from a gallery in Toronto, Canada. Measures apprx 4"H x 8-1/2"W. Provenance: estate of Mr. Gordon K. Mott from Cleveland, Ohio.
