282. Pair of Silver Beakers, Russian, 19th Century

Sterling silver cups with gold washed interiors. The larger cup has incised scrolling foliate designs twisted and knotted upon itself. Smaller cup with depiction of birds, fish and curving shell shapes. The undersides are hallmarked and incised with the owners name, Lloyd Osbourne (1868?1947). The large cup measures approx. 3-1/4"H x 2-7/8"H, and small cup measures approx. 3-1/8"H x 2-1/2"W. Osbourne was the stepson of the American author Robert Louis Stevenson. He collaborated with Stevenson on three novels and also wrote books of his own. He was the indirect inspiration for Stevenson's popular adventure novel "Treasure Island". It is believed that Stevenson presented these cups to his stepson as a gift.
