264. A Pair of Japanese Gilt Vases, circa 19th Century

Vases have scenes of a lovely woman dressed in a kimono. She carries a basket in her hands and looks back over her shoulder. Second vase features a scene with a royal woman seated in a throne with a flower-adorned sceptor. Remaining sections of the first vase feature a scenes of a mother bird drinking from a pond and the second vase has baby birds in a nest, both with various flowers and foliage. Vases signed with Japanese characters on square bottoms. Each vase measures apprx 10" H x 5" W.
