Carved wooded sculpture of a lion. Regal beast in traditional reclining position. Carving is well done, somewhat rough in technique. In dark wood. Measures apprx 8-1/2"H x 15-1/4"W. Signed on back of base. Krupka was born circa 1880 in the Rychnor area and came to the United States circa 1904 through Ellis Island. He died at the young age of 37 of consumption, leaving behind his children, all of whom were raised by friends of the family. 200/400 Sold $655.50 back to catalog |
