"Garden." Oil on academy board, signed lower left "L. Rush", dated 1911, in a carved wood gilt frame, image size approx. 8-3/4" x 7-3/4", framed overall approx. 15-1/2" x 14-1/4". Fragment of an original Cleveland, Ohio gallery tag remains on verso. Provenance: From the collection of Tom Wilson, Cleveland, Ohio. Mr. Wilson's collection spans several decades and includes wonderful Art Deco, sculpture, paintings and drawings from around the the world. Mr. Wilson is a well know cartoonist and creator of the character Ziggy.

86. Arthur Louis Helwig (American, 1899-1976)
"Jass 1940". Oil on masonite panel, signed "Helwig" on the lower right corner. Abstract painting in a grey wood frame. Image size approx. 32" x 14", framed overall approx. 40" x 21-3/4". Arthur Helwig, past president of the Cincinnati Art Club (1939-1941), was an active artist and a teacher for well over forty years. During this period he has exhibited in museums and galleries in Europe and in over twenty different cities across this country from New York to San Francisco. He has won four 1st prize awards in national shows for his lithographic prints. He has also won a number of awards for his paintings.

87. John Teyral (Russian-American, 1912-1999)
Untitled. Oil on canvas, signed and dated "Teyral 1960" on the lower right corner, in a painted wood frame, image size approx. 20" x 23-1/2", framed overall approx. 22" x 25-3/4". This painting was The Henry G. Keller Memorial Award presented to Robert Jergens in 1960. Teyral was a student at the Cleveland Institute of Art in the tradition of other Cleveland School artists. He also studied at the School of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Grande Chaumiere in Paris and the Academia Belli Arti in Florence. Provenance: From the collection of Tom Wilson, Cleveland, Ohio. Mr. Wilson's collection spans several decades and includes wonderful Art Deco, sculpture, paintings and drawings from around the the world. 88. Stephen Juharos (Hungarian, born 1913)
Untitled. Oil on canvas of Western scene, signed "S. Juharos" on the lower right corner, image size approx. 26-1/2" x 35-1/2", framed overall approx. 35-1/2" x 44-1/2". Stephen Juharos, a native of Budapest, Hungary, began painting at the age of seven. In 1961, Juharos built a studio, art gallery and personal home in Sedona, Arizona. Here he completed large murals for churches in Pittsburgh and Perriopolis, Pennsylvania; Montreal, Canada and Flagstaff, Arizona.

89. Antonín Marek Machourek (Czech, 1913-1991)
"Matador with Spanish lady." Oil on canvas, signed "Anton M. Machourek" on the lower right corner. Image measures approx. 25" x 21", not framed. This painting shows a lady with a fan and a matador in close-up. Machourek was born in Moravie in 1913. He studied at the School of Decorative Arts at Prague and also at the School of Fine Arts, Prague. In 1939 he worked on one of the biggest mosaics in the same city. Six years later, in 1945, Machourek attended the Fine Arts School at Paris. He settled in Monaco where his works were often shown. Machourek's paintings and his designs in fresco and mosaics are reflecting the interior intensive temperament of this poetic artist. In 1959 he obtained the 11 Grand Prix de Peinture Taurine at the Salon International d'Art Plastique.

90. Robert H. Laessig (American, born 1913)
Floral Scene. Oil on paper over board, signed "Robert Laessig" on the lower left corner. Image depicts a mountain landscape in the background, and detailed dandelions on the forefront. Image size approx. 9-1/4" x 8-1/2", framed overall approx. 15" x 14-1/8". Robert Laessig was born In West New York, New Jersey in 1913. He attended the Textile Design School of Plauen, Germany for five years and specialized in the study and painting of flowers. Laessig then studied at Art Students’ League, New York City under Bernard Klonis. An opportunity to become an art consultant brought Laessig to Cleveland where he is now residing. He has exhibited at many Cleveland Museum of Art May Shows since 1950. He has won prizes at the Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio and also the annual exhibition held at the Akron Art Institute. He was presented a distinctive award for the best watercolor in a show and an abstract painting was purchased for the Cleveland Museum of Art at the time of the 1959 May Show.

Untitled, ca. 1925. Oil on canvas, initialed lower right, signed and dated on verso, 25" x 30-1/2", not framed. William Ivey was widely recognized as the dean of Northwest painters. He was a fourth-generation Seattleite who devoted his career to painting in the Abstract Expressionist style.

92. Dean Ellis (American, b. 1920)
"Rapello, Italy." Oil on board, signed "Dean Ellis" on the lower right corner. The image depicts a town of Rapello in Italy. Image size approx. 10" x 23-1/4", framed overall approx. 17" x 30". Dean Ellis was born in Detroit, Michigan and studied at the Cleveland School of Art from 1939 to 1942 and with Karl Zerbe at the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts from 1946 to 1947. His work is in the collection of the Cleveland Museum of Art and in many private collections. In 1950, Life magazine included him among nineteen of the most promising American painters. Settling in New York in 1956, he was awarded a fellowship for work at the McDowell Colony. Ellis has designed stamps for the U.S. Postal Service and several foreign governments.

A peaceful scene with rolling hills and airy clouds above. Oil on canvas, signed lower right corner, dated 1936, framed. Image measures approx. 23" x 28-1/2", framed overall approx. 27-1/2" x 33". The view is from a country hillside with fir trees in the foreground and a panoramic distant view of fields and hills receding into the distance. There is a Hungarian export stamp on the verso of the canvas, and an exhibition label dated 1966 on the stretcher.

Harbor scene with Fishermen. Oil on canvas, signed lower left corner, framed in an ornate gilded and antiqued Barbizon pattern frame, 13" x 18" canvas size, with frame 20" x 25". There is a number 14027 written on the verso of the canvas below which is a stamped copyright statement. A very decorative scene in a soft palette depicting a croud of fishermen with traps on a pier beyond which many sailboats ride in the harbor.
