340. A lot of Two Framed Miniature Paintings from India, 19th Century
Two framed scenes from India. Watercolor on paper with gold highlights and spot varnishing, each matted and framed. One is 4-3/4" x 7-1/4" image size, the other is 5-1/4" x 7-3/4" image size, with frames each is 10" x 12-1/2". The first image is Shiva receiving visitors by a river regarded from above by a procession and a cluster of holy cattle. The second depicts the infants Shiva and Radha being presented in a courtly scene. Two felled trees are also notably in the composition. Provenance: The Dr. Alvin O. Bellak Collection.

341. A lot of Three Framed Miniature Paintings from India, 19th Century
Three narrative scenes from Indian folklore. Watercolor on paper with gold highlighting and spot varnish, each matted and framed, image sizes 4-1/2" x 7-1/4", with frames 10" x 12". The first scene depicts a prince bearing Krishna across a river protecting him from three serpents, embellished by surrounding figures and buildings. The second scene a Maharaja holds court with Krishna seated upon cushions and a leopard rug surrounded by courtly maidens. In the third story, the young Krishna and Radha are shown outside a palace with two felled trees while women attend indoors. Each is delicately rendered and highly decorative. An extremely delicate painting of a Nobleman. Watercolor on paper with gold highlighting, not framed, 5-3/4" x 3-7/8". A finely rendered painting depicting an older gentleman in very embellished attire, carrying his sword and a pink flower. Behind the man's head is an apparent corona of sorts. The tiny details are very beautifully and skillfully handled. Provenance: The Dr. Alvin O. Bellak Collection.
