236. Mervin M. Jules (American, 1912-1994)
"Young Musician." Lithograph on paper. Signed "Jules" on the lower right corner. Professionally framed and matted. Image approx. 17-1/8" x 7-1/2", framed overall approx. 24-1/4" x 13-3/8". From an early age Jules was encouraged by his parents to become a musician; however, he decided to teach arts by the time he graduated from Baltimore City College in 1930. He received his first one-man exhibition in New York City at the age of twenty-five. His career as painter, printmaker, illustrator and art teacher spanned more than five decades. Jules' works are included in permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum in New York, as well as many others.

237. Nestor Hippoyle Fruge (American, born 1916)
"New Orleans Courtyard". Watercolor on paper, apprx 15-3/4" x 11", signed "Fruge" on the lower right. Not framed. This particular watercolor was purchased in 1967 at a New Orleans French Quarter gallery. Nestor Fruge is a self-taught artist, who traveled extensively, presently residing in Mexico. Exhibited in New York, Paris, New Orleans and Mexico.

For many years she maintained a studio/gallery in Cleveland's Murray Hill District, known for galleries and artists' studios.

His artistic mediums encompass clay, hand-painted ceramics, sculpture, drawings, and paintings. This image comes from the first International Printing Corporation Cleveland Calendar. Schreckengost was honored to be the first of many artists commissioned to create 13 images for a yearly publication. In addition to the actual calendar, there were a series of 110 limited editions of each image signed in ink by the artist, larger than the calendar. These prints have become much sought after in the following years.

Both drawings framed overall approx. 17" x 14-1/2". One of Ohio's finest painters and printmakers of the 20th Century, W. Leroy Flint attended the Cleveland School of Art from 1932 to 1936. During his career, he exhibited his art regularly in Cleveland, Akron, Pittsburgh, Detroit and Chicago. Today examples of his work are included in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian in Washington, DC, the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Akron Art Institute and the University of Michigan.
