| 331. A Pair of Middle Eastern Watercolors, ca. 19th Century
A pair of equestrian paintings. Watercolor on paper, not framed, matted in a double-window mat, each image apprx 5" x 5", with mat overall 11-1/4" x 14-1/4". Both paintings depict people astride animals as if in a procession. One man is riding a fantastical horned animal similar to a horse, and a man and woman are seated atop a camel. The manner in which they are shown is fluidly painted and stylized. There is Sanskrit calligraphy on the verso. Provenance: The Dr. Alvin O. Bellak Collection. 200/400 Sold $264.50 back to catalog |
