571. Claude Conover (American, 20th Century)

"Nicnac", pottery vase, square shape with soft rounded edges and protruding neck. Impressed with a repetitions circle patterns, cross hatched design on 1-3/4"tall rim, overall brown colored, accents highlighted with a matte cream slip. Includes original plastic insert. Signed and "Claude Conover" on bottom with title. Purchased from the artist. Mr. Conover was the Ohio Arts Council’s recipient of the Cleveland Arts Prize in 1983 and he was a member of the "Cleveland School" which was first used by Elrick Davis a 1928 article for the Cleveland Press, titled "Cleveland's Art Pioneers Have Put City in Front Rank in Creative Field.". This has the original plastic insert. Apprx 21" tall.
