Hollow steel metal container with spring measurer for dispensing gun powder. Convex repousse of scrolling vine. Decorative image on flat side of two solders with a dragon. Apprx 5"W x 2-1/2"D.

"Pillar Dollar" or "Piece of Eight" minted in 1734. Foreign coins were heavily used by the early settlers in New England, especially the coins minted in Spanish colonies in South America. The names for the coin come from the design on the front of the coin, which features two pillars flanking two globes, and the fact that this coin was worth eight Spanish reales. Measures approx. 1-1/2" in diameter.

Highly decorative gilt bronze lidded urn features pierced leaf design and curved leaf handles. The lid features stylized leaf finial. The urn is on the black marble stand. No marks found. Very little wear. Overall the urn measures approx. 8-1/4"T including base and a finial.

370. Tiffany Studios Bronze Candlestick for The Rowfant Club


After a model by James Lippitt Clark in the form of a standing Groundhog supporting a candle holder while sitting on an open book. The top of the base is inscribed "J.L. CLARK MODELLER ROWFANT CLUB CLEVELAND 1903". The base is stamped "TIFFANY STUDIOS/NEW YORK", and "OF/ONE HUNDRED/COPIES MADE THIS IS/ NO-16". Apprx 8-1/4"T. The making of candlesticks began in early 1894 when each member was charged to "appear at the annual convocation bearing a candlestick with his name attached thereto in autograph". The Rowfant Club is an exclusive Cleveland, Ohio, men’s bibliophilic organization started in 1892.

This mantel clock features a figurine of a seated man in period clothing holding a globe near small bookcase. Brown and gilt dial in a fancy case with metal pendant on the right and a finial on top. Clock is key wind pendulum. "Ansonia Clock Co./ Patented June 14, 81/ New York U.S.A./ Patented June 18, 1882" is inscribed on the back of the movement. Both are situated on a black enameled metal base with figural cartouche decoration. Overall measures approx. 14-1/2"H x 17"W x 6-1/2"D.
