Domestic Interior. Oil on canvas, signed "C. Bouter" on the lower right corner, framed in a beautifully carved gilt wood frame. Image measures approx. 17-1/2" x 21-1/2"; framed overall approx. 26" x 30". Verso features a "John F. White Pittsburgh Originals Only" logo. A Dutch domestic scene which has maintained popularity for many years of a young mother attending to her two small girls. It is a universally charming subject that many artists have specialized in, this being one of the more accomplished artists of the genre.

Verso features a Montimer Brandt gallery tag, New York. The artist exhibited in 1941-Salon des Tuileries, 1940-Salon D'Automne, and 1926-Independents Cologne. He is a well recognized French artist of the 20th Century.

Sailing ships docked at dusk. Signed "G. H. Thomas" on the lower right corner. A lone person in a rowboat floats before the craft in the foreground. The scene is at the moment of dusk when the air and water is flooded with a soft grey-green light. Some lamps have been lit on the ships and the rippling water. Green and gold metal gilt frame. Image measures approx. 25-1/2" 19-1/2", framed overall approx. 30-1/2" x 24-1/2". Provenance: From the collection of Tom Wilson, Cleveland, Ohio. Mr. Wilson's collection spans several decades and includes wonderful Art Deco, sculpture, paintings and drawings from around the the world. Mr. Wilson is a well know cartoonist and creator of the character Ziggy.

Interior Scene. Oil on canvas mounted on a masonite board, illegible signature on the lower right corner. In a wood frame; matted. Image depicts two monks and a woman gathered around the table. This amusing scene tells a story of a woman offering to sell a cabbage and some fish to the monks. The standing figure holds some coins, but the seated monk recoils from the scent. Image measures approx.16-1/2"H x 23-1/2"W, framed overall approx. 23-1/4"H x 30-1/4"W.

"Philomeon's Horses". Oil on board, signed and dated 1948 on the lower left corner. Image measures approx. 15-1/2" x 19-1/2"; framed overall approx. 22-1/2" x 26-1/2". Ward was born in White Plains, New York, where he spent most of his career and where he also painted a mural for the Federal Building. He studied at the Art Students League with Norman Rockwell with whom he shared a studio. Among his teachers at the League were Thomas Fogarty, Edward Dufner, and George Bridgman. He was a member of the Salmagundi Club, the Guild of Freelance Artists, and a member of the Society of Illustrators.

"View of Mt. Toro". Oil on canvas, signed lower left. Canvas approx. 10" x 14", overall with frame approx. 13-3/4" x 17-3/4". A noted California artist and impressionist landscape painter, he is mostly known for his coastal scenes of the Monterey Peninsula. Associate of the National Academy of Design in 1930, his memberships include; California Art Club, Carmel Art Association, Laguna Beach Art Association, Bohemian Club, San Francisco, and Salmagundi Club, New York.

A very realistic painting of a snow laden evening in winter with a stream. Oil on canvas, signed "Neogrady Laszlo" on the lower right corner. Carved wood frame. Image size approx. 23-1/2" x 32", framed overall approx. 30" x 39". Laszlo Neogrady was born in Budapest, Hungary in 1896. He was the son of the artist Anatal Neogrady and he studied painting at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts under the artist Ede Ballo. From 1922 Laszlo Neogrady exhibited his work at the Hungarian Art Gallery. He specialised in painting naturalistic landscapes many of which depicted forest scenes in the snow. These works are highly sought after and can be found in collections throughout the world. The artists extensive use of impasto creates an almost three dimensional effect in these works. His use of light is usually dramatic and his landscapes are very atmospheric.

Still Life. Oil on canvas. Signed "Lorjou" on the lower right corner. Hand-carved gilt frame. Image measures approx. 15-1/2"H x 11-5/8"W; framed overall approx. 22"H x 18"W. Bernard Lorjou is a prominent French painter, who employed his talents as a tool to express his political views. However, in between doing his monumental paintings, he painted simple objects and still lives, such as this one. His first major exhibition was held at the Wildenstein gallery in New York in 1954. In 1957, Lorjou showed his work "The Rambouillet Massacres" in a specially-built shed at the fair at the Invalides in Paris. In 1963, his works were shown on a barge which went throught Paris on the Seine; in 1965 Lorjou was commissioned by the to design a set of posters on the theme : "fight hunger, win peace". Marchal&Fields Gallery tag and Garelick Gallery tag on verso.

"Le Select", opened in 1925, it was the first bar in Montparnasse. Oil on canvas, signed "C. Kluge" on the lower right corner, in a gold leafed frame, with a name plaque on the linen liner. Image measures approx. 28" x 38-1/2", framed overall approx. 36" x 47". Constantine Kluge was born in Riga, Latvia in 1912. After the October 1917 Revolution in Russia, his family had to flee the country. The family moved eastward until they settled in French part of Shanghai, where Kluge went to a French school. Afterwards, Kludge went to Paris to study architecture; however, while in Paris Kluge painted a lot of street scenes to retain them in his memories. Upon returning to Shanghai, Kluge practiced architecture for a short while before devoting himself fully to painting. Constantine Kluge eventually moved to Paris, where he had great success at the Paris Salon. In 1962 he won Gold Medal of the Salon des Artistes Francais France and in 1990 he received The Legion d'Honneur France.
