Cover printed "pocket-Library or the most eminent works of the english poets and prosaist.". With pink slip case with titled spine. Each apprx 6-1/4" x 3-3/4". Both with advertisements in the front.

Includes "Letters and Sermons" two volumes and "A Sentimental Journey", one volume. Each apprx 7" x 4-1/2".

New York: John Wurtele Lovell, 1881, First American edition, 8 volumes. All 3/4 leather with marbled boards and gilt, decorative spines with leather inserted title compartments. Marbled end papers and edges. Illustrated throughout. Each apprx 7-1/2" x 5-1/4". The author wrote this history to be more accessible than the existing History of England by Hume, and also, that history ended in 1689.

Leather title compartments. Apprx 7-3/4" x 5-1/2". Two books have the leather coming off the spines, losses to leather on all and discolored.
