590. "The Popular History of England", by Charles Knight
New York: John Wurtele Lovell, 1881, First American edition, 8 volumes. All 3/4 leather with marbled boards and gilt, decorative spines with leather inserted title compartments. Marbled end papers and edges. Illustrated throughout. Each apprx 7-1/2" x 5-1/4". The author wrote this history to be more accessible than the existing History of England by Hume, and also, that history ended in 1689.

Leather title compartments. Apprx 7-3/4" x 5-1/2". Two books have the leather coming off the spines, losses to leather on all and discolored.
