| 1. Hexagonal Pottery Tile, Turkey circa 1525-1530 A.D.
This hexagonal tile is painted in shades of cobalt blue and turquoise on a white background, with a symmetrical floral and split palmettes design radiating from from a central floral composition. Very similar tiles were used in the Topkapi Sarayi Sunnet Odasi (circa. 1527-28). Around that time Iznik adopted turquoise in its palette.
