Figure of a seated warrior with spear. Pen and ink on paper, not signed. Paper measures approx. 10"H x 12-1/2"W. Painter, draughtsman and writer, active in England, son of Johann Caspar Fussli. He spent most of his working life in England, where he established himself at the most original history painter and draughtsman of his generation. Renowed for his treatment of bizarre and psychologically penetrating subjects, he as also a prolific writer and, from 1779, Professor of Painting at the Royal Academy.
