| 40. Edmund Franklin Ward (American, 1892 - 1991)
"Philomeon's Horses". Oil on board, signed and dated 1948 on the lower left corner. Image measures approx. 15-1/2" x 19-1/2"; framed overall approx. 22-1/2" x 26-1/2". Ward was born in White Plains, New York, where he spent most of his career and where he also painted a mural for the Federal Building. He studied at the Art Students League with Norman Rockwell with whom he shared a studio. Among his teachers at the League were Thomas Fogarty, Edward Dufner, and George Bridgman. He was a member of the Salmagundi Club, the Guild of Freelance Artists, and a member of the Society of Illustrators. 500/700 Sold $718.75 back to catalog |
