Scene depicts a pack of wolves chasing a person through the woods. The wolves have chased him through the landscape and out of sight. The only references are his footsteps and his hat laying in the snow, which one of the wolves has stopped to inspect. Shurtleff is best known for his landscapes and some animal paintings.
