| 199. Marcia, Personality of Shirley Mason (American 1923-1998)
Untitled watercolor on paper. Unsigned. Matted and framed. 20"h x 32"w image size. Large watercolor on paper with strong brushwork. The very dynamic brush strokes are usually believed to be that of "Marcia". Ms. Mason has been identified as "Sybil Isabel Dorsett," the subject of the famous 1973 book by Flora Rheta Schreiber entitled Sybil. She began undergoing therapy with psychiatrist Dr. Cornelia B. Wilbur in 1954 and was diagnosed as having 16 multiple personalities by Dr. Wilbur in 1965. The artwork described was purchased from Barrett Auction Company, Lexington, Kentucky, who was commissioned to sell Ms. Shirley A. Masons estate. 1,000/2,000 Sold $173.65 back to catalog |
