11. Two Ushabti and Coin from Antiquity


First is a blue faience Egyptian ushabti, apprx 2-3/4"L, with hieroglyphs. Next is a small ushabti or amulet of possibly glass or metal, attached to a display stand, approx. 1-1/2"L not including the stand. Last is a coin from Antiquity, illegible, possibly Greek, approx. 1-1/4"D.

A hollow sheet electrum pendant of Horus the falcon, wearing the Double Crown of Egypt (wire plume now missing), with suspension hole through body. Apprx 1-7/8" x 1-3/8". Purchased at Christie's auction of Egyptian Gold Jewelry, June 1st, 1979. An almost identical piece excavated from a 12th Dynasty private tomb at Thebes is illustrated in Scepter I, fig. 153 and another of the same design is shown in Petrie, Amulets, pl. XLV, 245 al.

A sheet gold amulet in the form of a double hawk-headed lion, with chased details and tubular suspension loop on verso. The double lion represents the north and south. Apprx 3/8" x 7/8". Purchased at Christie's auction, June 1st, 1979.

Both terracotta, earthenware and polychomed. Stylized frogs, one with open mouth and spots apprx 3"T, the other painted black apprx 3"L and with two indentations, suggesting that this may have been attached to another object. Both with inventory numbers, similar to museum collections.
