Both oblong plaques depict Classical women figures. Plaque with a woman playing the tambourine is slightly convex, white the other plaque is flat. There plaques were used as furniture cartouche decorations. With incised Wedgwood marks on bottom. Measure approx. 6"T x 3-3/4."

774. Set of Three Wedgwood Blue, Black, and Green Jasperware Medallions


This set includes: 1) Blue oblong medallion depicting a Writers' Buildings, a major landmark in Calcutta, India. The building is famous for its Corinthian facade. Originally built as a residence for the British East India Company's clerical and administrative staff, it today houses the main state secretariat. Back of the medallion is incised "Wedgwood made in England." Measures approx. 4"T x 3"W. 2) Black Jasperware medallion features Classical woman with tambourine. Back incised "Wedgwood Made in England." Measures approx. 5"T x 3-3/4". 3) Green Jasperware medallion depicts Ludwig Mond, a famous chemist and art collector. This medallion is adhered to a velvet background and neatly framed in gilt frame. Back is stamped "Ludwig Mond 1839-1906 Wedgwood Made in England." Measures approx. 4"T x 3"W.

This group includes: small black Jasper fluted sweet dish (measures approx. 3"D); white on black jasper dish (measures approx. 4-1/4"D); white on lilac jasper round tray (measures approx. 4-1/4"D); white on pink round tray with scallop (measures approx. 4-3/8"D). Two white on pale blue Nixon Medallions, numbered 417/1000 and 838/1000 (both measure approx. 4-1/2"L x 3"W. All are in their original boxes.
