364. Collection of Japanese Lacquerware, ca. Mid 20th Century
This collection includes a total of six bowls and nine plates. There are three bowls with red exterior and gold interior decorated with iris flowers, butterflies, and Manchurian cranes. Two out of three red lacquer bowls are hand-decorated in gilt with tree branches, and one is decorated with a bird on the colorful tree branch. All three red bowls are marked "Made in Occupied Japan" and bears a "YS" monogram in a rectangular cartouche. All bowls measure approx. 2" x 4-3/4" in diameter. Six out of nine plates have red exterior and gilt interior decorated with grapevines, daffodils, an autumn tree branch, butterflies, and cranes. These plates are not marked. Three plates are with black exterior, and are decorates with an autumn tree branch, rooster on a branch with white blossoms, and grapevines. Maker's stamp on bottom. All plates measure approx. 6-3/4" in diameter.

Wonderful matching pair of enameled vases with exotic birds creating a decorative band with turquoise background and flying cranes on an unusual blue background. 367. Chen Lun Period Style Cloisonne Tea Pot
Bulbous body teapot with double tiered lid and a metal onion-shape finial. Yellow body decorated with colorful scrolls and stylized foliage. The sides feature turquoise-background, oversized cartouches depicting qilins, sometimes called the Chinese unicorn. The qilin is an auspicious creature with the head of a dragon, the body of a deer, the tail of an ox, horse's hooves and a single horn. The qilin (also referred to as "kylin," or "kirin" in Japan) is considered to be one of the four supernatural creatures and is pre-eminent among hairy creatures. Turquoise glazed interior. Overall, with the lid and handles the teapot measures apprx. 6"T x 8"W.
